TIBURON, Marin County — October 31, 2026. The Tiburon Heritage & Arts Commission is hosting a free book talk on mid-century modern design at Town Hall on Thursday, November 12, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The venue is 1505 Tiburon Boulevard.
Who is speaking?
Local journalist Jenna McKnight will discuss her new book, Design: Mid-Century Modern, in a conversation with Sara Alexander, founder of The Scale Collective, and architect Sean Bailey, whose design practice is based in Larkspur. The town’s October 26 announcement invites attendees to bring questions and share their own stories about buildings and interiors from the era.
Why the topic fits southern Marin
Mid-century modern architecture is closely associated with the postwar Bay Area, where indoor-outdoor spaces, simple forms and attention to site and landscape shaped many homes. This event is presented as a cultural conversation, not a municipal planning hearing or a project-approval process.
How to attend
Admission is listed as free and open to the public. Town Hall is the confirmed location. The notice does not promise a livestream, book-signing inventory or reserved seating, so those should not be assumed. Residents requiring an accessibility accommodation can use the town contact information, 415-435-7373, for guidance.
