TIBURON, Marin County — October 31, 2026. The Town of Tiburon has opened two free self-service sandbag stations as it prepares for winter flooding following an episode of high tides downtown.
Where can residents get sandbags?
The town’s October 14 announcement identifies two locations: the Blackie’s Pasture parking lot and the Teather Park parking lot on Beach Road. Public Works says residents may help themselves. These are self-service locations, so residents should expect to fill and stack their own bags and should check supply availability before an urgent visit.
What is the town concerned about?
Recent tidal flooding is a warning that very high tides, particularly when combined with strong wind or rain, may inundate low coastal streets and property. A sandbag may help redirect shallow surface water, but it is not a guarantee against severe flooding. It cannot make a flooded road safe to cross.
Who should be contacted about blocked drainage?
For a malfunctioning drainage system on public property that is causing flooding, the town lists 415-435-7399 for Public Works. After business hours, residents may contact Tiburon Police at 415-789-2800 to route the concern. For immediate danger to life, call 911.
Residents should use Marin’s emergency portal for current flood alerts and the official town guide for instructions on properly filling and stacking bags. An October notice is not a real-time statement of tide or road conditions.
